Requirements
macOS 14 or later. One menu bar app, no helper, no login item.
How to use it
- Open Aria Magic Cat. The icon appears in the menu bar.
- Turn the On / Off switch on. The status line shows it is running.
- Lock the screen (Control-Command-Q) or let the display turn off on its own schedule. Long downloads, builds, renders and remote sessions keep going.
- Turn the switch off when you are done, or quit from the menu.
Frequently asked
Why is my Mac still working after the screen went black?
That is the point of the app. Locking the screen and turning the display off are separate from sleeping. While the switch is on, Aria Magic Cat asks macOS not to sleep from inactivity, so the screen can go dark while your work continues.
Does it drain the battery?
Yes, more than letting the Mac sleep — the screen is off but the machine stays awake. Leave it on only while you need a task to finish.
Does it change my power settings?
No. It does not touch Energy Saver, the sleep timers or any system setting. It holds temporary power assertions, and releases all of them when you turn the switch off or quit.
What still puts the Mac to sleep?
- Closing the lid of a notebook
- Apple menu ▸ Sleep
- A critically low battery
Those are macOS behaviours. Aria Magic Cat does not prevent them and does not claim to.
How can I check that it is really holding the wake request?
Open Terminal and run:
pmset -g assertions
While the switch is on you should see three assertions named P16KeepRunning (PreventUserIdleSystemSleep, PreventSystemSleep, PreventDiskIdle). Turn the switch off — they disappear.
Do I need an account or an internet connection?
No. The app is sandboxed without the network entitlement, so it cannot use the network at all. There is no account, no sign-in and no data collection. See the privacy policy.

常见问题
屏幕黑了，为什么 Mac 还在干活？
这正是这个 App 的用途。锁屏、熄屏和系统睡眠是三件事。开关打开时，躺平猫请求 macOS 不要因为空闲而睡眠，所以屏幕可以黑掉，活继续跑。
会不会很费电？
会比让 Mac 睡觉费电 —— 屏幕虽然黑着，机器是醒着的。只在需要任务跑完的时候开着就好。
会不会改我的电源设置？
不会。它不碰「节能」里的任何设置、不改睡眠计时，只持有临时电源断言；关掉开关或退出 App 时全部释放。
哪些情况系统仍然会睡？
- 合上笔记本盖子
- 点苹果菜单里的「睡眠」
- 电量过低
这些都是 macOS 的行为，躺平猫不阻止，也不宣称能阻止。
怎么确认它真的在阻止闲置睡眠？
打开「终端」，执行：
pmset -g assertions
开关打开时，应能看到三条名字为 P16KeepRunning 的断言（PreventUserIdleSystemSleep、PreventSystemSleep、PreventDiskIdle）。关掉开关，它们就消失。
需要账号或联网吗？
不需要。App 在沙盒里运行且没有网络权限，完全无法联网。没有账号、不用登录、不收集数据，详见隐私政策。
